Turn any image into a BlurHash
Paste a link, or drop a file straight from your machine. Either way, you'll have a tiny placeholder in a couple seconds.
…or just drop an image file here.
Psst, we can't see your images!
How do I use a BlurHash?
Copy the generated BlurHash string and save it alongside your imageUrl in your database. Render the BlurHash in your UI while the original image is being fetched, then replace it with the full-resolution image once loading is complete.
For more information and implementation details, see the official BlurHash documentation .
Is the tool free to use?
Yes. This tool is completely free to use with no usage limits. Generate as many BlurHash strings as you need.
Is my file safe?
Yes. We don't save your uploaded image, image URL, or local file data. Your images stay private to you.
Is it safe to share a BlurHash publicly?
Yes. A BlurHash is a small, blurred representation of an image rather than the original image itself. It is designed to preserve the general colors and shapes of an image while leaving out fine details.
However, BlurHash is not a security or privacy mechanism. If your original image is private or sensitive, you should still protect the original image URL and access to the image itself.
Are there limitations to using BlurHash?
Because a BlurHash stores only a simplified representation of an image, it intentionally loses details such as text, faces, sharp edges, and fine textures. The decoded image will therefore always look blurred.
BlurHash is also not an image format or compression method. You still need to store and serve the original image separately. The BlurHash is simply used to show an approximate preview while that image loads.
